Panmunjom (JSA) Tours Are Closed to Foreigners in 2026
Published October 20, 2026
The Ministry of Unification is not running Panmunjom tours for foreign visitors. You can still see the Third Tunnel and Dora Observatory on Paju City's DMZ tour.
What you need to know
- According to the Ministry of Unification's visitor page (updated August 2026), tours for groups and foreigners are not running, with a separate notice to follow.
- Civilian tours stopped after a US soldier crossed the border during a tour in July 2023. Limited special tours for invited groups resumed in May 2025 but were paused again in October 2025.
- Some tour companies still advertise JSA tours. Don't book one.
- The Paju DMZ Peace Tour from Imjingak (Third Tunnel and Dora Observatory, about 3 hours, 9,200–12,200 won) is open to foreigners with a passport.
